Overall it was a great trip. The snow in Hokkaido was absolutely beautiful and powdery. Apparently the snow quality is one of the best in the world. I miss their melon ice cream and cream puffs too!
I think I gained damn a lot of weight in Hokkaido. Oh yeah! I tried onsen (hot spring)! You know, the kind that u see in anime where they all strip naked. xDD Haha yes it was neccessary, and siewying was so shocked. But it was quite fun, cos we got to stay in the Japanese style hotels, and sleep on the tatami! And no one openly stares at one another in the hot spring, so it isn't really uncomfortable. LOL.
Tokyo was a mad rush though, so much walking and getting lost! This is what happens when you don't take a tour group. Like for example, we were trying to find the garden below, and got lost 3 times. zzz.
Anyway, regarding the anime and manga thing, it isn't that rampant as people think it is. For example, in major department stores, you won't be able to find any anime related store at all! It was only in Akihabara where I could find such stuff. Only 1 day throughout my whole 2 week trip! And not many ppl actually enter the store so you feel kinda watched while you step into it. And i wanted to get the stuff that is all shounen comics, and only guys are on that floor, so you feel kinda weird when you're actually a girl and attemping to buy something there. =.=
Yeah, so as you can see, not too many weirdos as ppl think, and I only caught one cosplayer. (It was a sunday btw, more cosplayers should be parading around.) Who else could it be than the infamous Haruhi and her 团长 armband?? Haha. No hare hare yukai though, since only haruhi was around. (Why no kyon!??!?!) She's still doing the final touches to her hair as seen in the picture here, lol!
Oh yea, one final thing. The hospitality in Japan is fantastic. At every single hotel, when the tour bus leaves the place, a whole row of hotel employees will stand outside in the freezing weather to wait and wave goodbye, to show that they appreciate your stay. Isn't that great? Singapore has much to work on in terms of service standards.
Ok end of post!
